View Deadlines & ChecklistThe Georgetown PBPM program is designed for “career change” students and offers rigorous training in medical/dental pre-requisite laboratory sciences and math.
Postbac students enroll in the same science and math courses offered to our undergraduate students, ensuring that all of our students receive the same high-quality education. PBPM students attend lectures with undergraduates at classes offered during the day. The program reserves seats in class sections preferrable to the postbac students. The Postbac Student Association fosters a sense of community through social activities, community service and study groups.

Find Out If You Are a Good FitThe program is flexibly designed to meet the student’s needs and background. The time required to complete the certificate program ranges from fifteen to twenty-four months, depending on the preparation of the incoming student.

View Cost InformationThe program offers linkages to MD and DO programs for students who qualify. We have linkages with Georgetown University, New York University, Robert Wood Johnson Medical School, University of Pittsburgh and Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine.
Students and program alumni receive individualized advising by dedicated pre-health advisors. Additionally students attend workshops on how to prepare for, apply to and interview for medical and other allied health programs, join professional groups on campus and visit the Graduate Career Center. Students also join a Canvas course with resources dedicated to all things pre-health.
MCAT preparation: The postbac program provides a set of commercial prep books, the complete AAMC preparation bundle, and a set of practice exams and preparation resources bundle from a vetted exam preparation company.
DAT preparation: The program provides an on-line vetted prep course.
Preparation resources are offered year round for students who are ready to study for the exam. There is no cost for students who will complete 30 credits in the program. We also offer workshops on MCAT and DAT prep in the fall and spring semesters as well as partner with a test prep company for targeted workshops on specific topics and diagnostic testing.
Georgetown University and our city of Washington DC offer many wonderful opportunities for students to participate in clinical experiences, community service, and basic and clinical research and make a difference via student organizations. Additionally, we offer a shadowing program in the Georgetown MedStar hospital on weekends for postbac students.
Post Bac students have the opportunity to be evaluated and receive a recommendation letter from the Pre-Health Committee after completion of 30 credits at Georgetown University within three years.

More About Student LifeThe requirements for the Post-Baccalaureate Pre-Medical Certificate are successful completion of 30 credits of pre-med level science and math courses with a minimum GPA of 3.2.
The program is composed of a diverse group of students from many states, countries, academic interests, ages and backgrounds.
More About OutcomesThe program prepares students to apply successfully to medical, dental, veterinary schools and other health professions rather than preparing them for employment opportunities in a particular profession or occupation.
