Early Assurance Program (EAP)

2012 Georgetown School of Medicine Early Assurance Program

Georgetown's Early Assurance Program (EAP) is an opportunity for students who have excelled in their course work and wish to attend Georgetown's School of Medicine (SOM) to receive assurance of admission at the end of sophomore year. To be eligible for the EAP, students must be in their fourth semester at Georgetown University and have completed four of the five pre-med courses by the end of May (biology, general chemistry, organic chemistry, calculus and/or statistics, and physics).  Transfer students are not eligible for the EAP.

The goal of early admission is to provide students the opportunity to focus on other academic pursuits by providing relief from the ordinary pressures of the application process, MCAT preparation (students accepted in the EAP are not required to take the MCAT exam), and interviews during junior and senior year. Students describe these academic interests and goals in a formal proposal, designed and submitted by the student to the members of the Pre-Med Recommendation Committee (PMRC) and the SOM. Proposals are reviewed and students are selected on the basis of academic credentials, seriousness and thoughtfulness of the proposal, strength of their interview, and overall preparedness for medical study.
